Semi Automatic Key

After years of searching, I got it! The SCHURR bug. Not just any. But the one with the serial number 1999-01.

How can that be? The Morse Code Bible says that 50 pieces were built. 25 pieces with serial numbers in 2000 and 25 pieces in 2005. Apparently that wasn’t all. After some research on the web, I even found a picture with another bug with a 1999 serial number: 1999-03. And possibly after the 25 in 2005, a few more were built for good friends. Gerhard Schurr was a bit inconsistent here.

Apart from the SCHURR bug, I only know of one other DH2SAA Morse code key that has a serial number: the Wabbler Profi-98. Unfortunately. Otherwise you could even find out how many keys the master built in total. But nobody knows that and in the end it is not decisive either.

The Schurr semi-automatic key is made with such a precision that you can just marvel. A chrome-plated Vibroplex next to it shines more, but can never keep up in terms of precision in production. According to information from F6IIE’s website, a bug in the 2000 series was sold for not less than 525 EUR. Definitely money well spent if you are into handcraft Made in Germany.

The following pictures will give you some impression on that outstanding key.
